Self-Trust Challenge: What I Learned About Courage & Consistency

 In January 2026, I committed to a self-trust challenge.


Not a perfectly mapped one.
Just a simple promise: to show up daily and to become aware of my thoughts when resistance appeared.

What happened was not dramatic transformation but something deeper.
A rebuilding of inner trust through repetition, presence, and small courageous choices.

This is a reflection on what that month taught me.

Why I Started a Self-Trust Challenge

Self-trust isn’t built through motivation.
It’s built through follow-through.

I realized that many of the places when I felt “stuck” weren’t about lack of clarity, they were about doubt with myself. 

So the challenge wasn’t about becoming disciplined.
It was about becoming reliable to myself. To build trust in my capability.

I wanted to see what would happen if I stopped waiting to feel ready and simply stayed.

What Showing Up Daily Actually Looked Like

I started creating one page of junk journaling using my kits

Some days were easy.
Some days felt heavy.
Most days were ordinary.

Showing up didn’t mean doing more.
It meant not negotiating with fear.

It meant:

  • Creating even when it felt imperfect

  • Staying present 

The work was subtle but the inner work to be aware of my unconscious self was tough.

The Role of Resistance

Resistance didn’t disappear it became visible.

I noticed how often hesitation disguised itself as:

  • “I’ll do it later”

  • “I need more clarity”

  • “This isn’t the right time”

Self-trust grew when I stopped trying to overpower resistance and instead asked:

Can I stay with this moment, being present, becoming aware, without abandoning myself?

That question changed everything.

What Shifted By the End of January

I trusted myself to:

  • Make decisions without external validation

  • Stay consistent without pressure

  • Hold discomfort without collapsing into self-doubt

Self-trust began to feel less like something to achieve and more like something to practice.

Quietly. Repeatedly.

 

 

Even something as simple as opening my website and writing my first blog post felt uncomfortable. I could feel my body wanting to shrink, wanting to stay small, wanting to stay with what is familiar.

So I stayed with that feeling.

I stayed with the discomfort instead of turning away from it.

Because real change rarely happens inside the comfort of what we already know. Real change begins when we choose to step beyond the familiar when we allow ourselves to do something new, something unknown, something that stretches us just a little further than before.

Every time we take that step, we are not just doing something different. We are creating a different future for ourselves.

And sometimes, self-trust looks exactly like this, staying present with the discomfort and moving forward anyway.

What I Now Understand About Self-Trust

Self-trust is not a feeling.
It’s a relationship.

And like any relationship, it’s built through:

  • Consistency 

  • Honesty

  • Presence 

Every time you show up when it would be easier not to, you place a small brick in that foundation.

Over time, it holds.
